Hawaii Island lawmakers will lead three committees in the state House of Representatives in 2017.

Rep. Richard Creagan, D-South Kona, Ka‘u, was selected Tuesday to replace Rep. Clift Tsuji as Agriculture Committee chairman. Tsuji died Nov. 15.

Rep. Richard Onishi, D-Hilo, Kurtistown, Volcano, who was vice chairman of that committee, will lead the Tourism Committee. Rep. Lynn DeCoite, D-Maui, will replace him as Agriculture vice chair.

Rep. Mark Nakashima, D-Hamakua, Hilo, will lead the Economic Development and Business Committee. He previously oversaw the Labor and Public Employment Committee.

Rep. Nicole Lowen, D-Kailua-Kona, will be vice chairwoman of the Energy and Environmental Protection Committee.

Rep. Joy San Buenaventura, D-Puna, was selected as vice chairwoman of the Judiciary Committee.

Rep. Cindy Evans, D-North Kona, South Kohala, was selected as majority floor leader.
